Cooking, Knitting & Pictures

It has been a while, time flies..... it seems like the days start to fly by after Labor Day and  they don't slow down until after April 15th.

I have been doing some cooking, several years ago Amanda gifted me with an apple peeler. It works like a dream... peels cores and slices all at once.

Steve likes deep dish apple pie, there are enough apples here for two.

Dish is filled with apples, coated with a mixture of sugar Cinnamon, nutmeg and flour and dotted with butter. Topped with a pastry crust.

I wipe the crust with a small amount of milk and sprinkle with sugar then bake.

Serve with whipped cream or milk and enjoy.

I have been expanding my knitting expertise, I actually have tried SOCKS! Well almost, they are slipper socks for Sabrina.

Yep, she as big feet like her mother.......

I've also finished another scarf for one of the service men from our Church stationed in Iraq.

It is khaki green 100% wool and is approx 72 inches long. Each end has four different patterns and the middle is stockinette stitch.

We have had several inches of snow, but I took these pictures before all that started...

This is a sugar maple that is approx ten years old.

They grow fast, but but this one won't be producing sap in our life time.

Now for the question of the day....Any idea what this is...

These were growing in the flower beds...there were loads of them last this fall.

They look like this after a few day and then die....... and turn into a slimy mess.
